By January 2026, all prepackaged foods high in saturated fat, sugars, or sodium must display a clear front-of-package (FOP) nutrition symbol-a black-and-white magnifying glass-making it easy to spot foods with key nutrients linked to chronic diseases. Nutrition Facts tables are also updated for better readability, standardized serving sizes, and clearer daily value information, including new core nutrients like potassium. These changes aim to promote transparency, empower Canadians to compare products easily, and encourage healthier eating habits. Fresh produce, plain dairy, and raw meats are exempt, while consumer education campaigns will help everyone understand and use these new labels effectively.
